IVY

Preston remains where we left him. In the heated garage, naked with his cock in a painful-looking cage Maddox had. The more time that passes, the more I’m intrigued by him and his past.

I sit there, feeling the strangeness of the cold dinner table behind me and the warmth of Maddox inside me. I meet his gaze as I sit facing him.

He's feeding me a dinner of smoked venison and potatoes, and it’s delicious. He cooked it. I can feel my heart pounding in my chest, a cruel rhythm that seems to sync with the throbbing inside me.

The conversation flows naturally. We’re discussing our pasts between bites, like two old friends catching up. But this is far from a typical dinner date. Every time I move, I can feel his dick, a constant reminder of the game we’re playing.

“Tell me about your past,” I murmur.

He smirks. “It’s funny, isn’t it?”

“What is?” I ask.

“That you’re sitting here with my cock inside you, and you know nothing about me.”

I tilt my head. “And you know nothing about me,” I add.

“That’s not true,” he says.

My brow furrows. “In the five months since you booked the cabin, I’ve learned every accessible piece of information about you online. Everything.”

I swallow hard. “You actually get internet here?”

“Yes, it’s no fibre optic, but it works through the satellite.” He clears his throat. “To answer your question, my past is very dark.”

My chest flutters at the admission. “Is that why you live here in the wilderness?”

He nods. “Yes. If I lived somewhere else, I’d be locked away.”

“Maybe I should be locked away too.” Guilt coils through me as I want to make Preston suffer. And I know when Maddox is done, he’ll want to kill Preston. The problem is, I can’t let that happen. My mom is best friends with his mom. It would hurt her, and that’s the last thing I want.

“No, you’re an angel,” he murmurs, looking at me like I’m the best thing he’s ever seen.

“You can’t kill Preston,” I say.

His brow furrows. “What?” And there’s a rage that ignites in his eyes. “I already told you, angel, anyone who touches you dies.”

“You don’t understand,” I say, trying to keep calm. “Preston’s family is closely knit with mine. Our mothers have shared so many milestones together. Killing him wouldn’t only hurt him.”

“So you’re asking me to spare him because of your mom’s friendship?” Maddox growls, his eyes darkening. “You want him to walk free after what he did to you?”

“No!” I protest, shaking my head. “I don’t want him to walk free. I want him to suffer and understand the kind of pain he put me through wasting all those years. However, he didn’t really hurt me.”

Maddox raises a brow. “He cheated on you with two women.”

I nod. “Yes, but he did me a favor. It made me realize, I never loved him.” I clear my throat. “But killing him would destroy our families, and I can’t let that happen.”

The silence stretches between us, punctuated only by the crackling of the fire.
